About Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary

Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary is situated just 2km outside the village of McGregor on the road to Robertson.

Here you will find a tranquil haven, a place of healing for the broken-spirited, both donkey and human. We invite you to relax and enjoy a quiet interlude, go for a stroll on the circular walk through the vineyards, view our donkeys, do some bird-spotting and absorb the rural surroundings!

Please respect the peacefulness created here. Eseltjiesrus is first and foremost a sanctuary providing a safe home and loving care for rescued, destitute and aged donkeys. We are not a petting farm or an entertainment centre.

We are open Thursdays to Sundays (11am to 4pm) on Thursdays and Fridays please use the information leaflets and do a self-guided tour. On weekends come and meet our visitor guides.
