Troutways Private Retreat, located just outside Waterval Boven, has been operating for 17 years. It was conceived not only for the sake of fly-fishing, but as an escape to fresh air, the smell of the veld and family togetherness. There are four well-stocked trout dams of which four are fishable all year round. Troutways' appeal lies not only in the ease of access to a broad range of outdoor activities, but as an escape to a retreat-like environment where families can enjoy being together in a tranquil atmosphere. There are four fully self-contained lodges available. Guinea fowl lodge is our upmarket unit overlooking Island dam and mountains. Homestead is the huge refurbished old farmhouse overlooking the escarpment and bottom dams, Rainbow lodge close to the smaller dams and swimming pool. Log Cabin is snugged between the dams and a mountain and the most popular unit for couples .Each lodge is rented out as a unit, which guarantees total privacy for all guests. Lodges can be fully serviced, for a modest fee by prior arrangement. Each lodge has a fully equipped kitchen and Homestead Lodge has a bar as well as a pool table. All lodges have outside patios with built-in braais. Bedding and towels are all provided. An initial amount of wood is supplied and more wood can be purchased. For the avid fly-fishermen, our four trout dams are kept well stocked all year round ensuring enough water frontage for private fishing. A broad range of activities from birdwatching, world-class mountain climbing, hiking to mountain biking can be practiced. Also available is horse riding and rock pools for swimming and canoeing. Wedding Venues: Do you have dreams of getting married next to a dam or river, using a Massey Ferguson to deliver the bride, sitting on bales, with cows witnessing the ceremony? We can assist.
