Toro River Lodges comprises of 7 spacious King size beds Individual Chalets (King size bed, with the option of a sleeper couch for the kids) for SELF CATERING SAFARI PACKAGES.
· All Chalets occupy a prime slightly elevated position, overlooking the perennial Makhutswi River
· Lodge facilities include a shared lounge, dining and relaxation space, with an expansive wooden deck overlooking the Makhustwi River and Toro Hippo Pool, with a Raised Hig-Tea area right alongside Hippo Pool.
3 Villas have been recently upgraded or rebuilt and 1 is completely new, designed for privacy and optimum appreciation of the surrounding wilderness.

Our friends and family groups are welcome to enjoy one of the most spectacular and intimate of settings. Our chalets are located on the banks of the 'Makhutswi' River, where we share our area with the hippo and crocodile residents, as well as the frequent “Big Five” visitors wondering through to the water hole, located in the North of Kruger Area of South Africa, where your outdoor safari experience comes to live on 26,000 hectares of wildlife.
Unlike other places, your game viewing experience is not confined to main roads, as our guides are able to navigate through dense bush following our trackers in the front, leading you to sights otherwise unseen.
We offer you the privilege of sharing our accommodation time in the "Makalali" reserve once a year, which is affordable for our friends and works well.
If you love preparing food, while enjoying a drink and each other's company during the process, this is for you and that is why you prefer the idea of self-catering or sharing it while we are here.
Our special price is R 43,125 for three nights at the Lodge (for five couples).
This results in R 8,625 per couple for the three nights.Includes:
Two safaris per day
Room cleaning
Use of kitchen facilities and utensils
Table setting
Dishwashing after meals
All food, snacks and drinks are brought by you.
This price also makes it relatively easy to find enough couples to join to fill the entire camp.
Also please consider a fee / tip for the ranger, tracker, and cleaning staff.
Reserve your space for next year with the options of entering Sunday to Wednesday (leaving Thursday morning) and Thursday to Saturday (leaving Sunday morning).
We will proceed to allocate the weeks according to the preferences of each group of friends, but if there is an oversubscription, we suggest you take what is available.
Once a time slot is assigned, is expected to get a deposit 3-4 months in advance and the balance to be paid 2-4 weeks in advance.
Brad and Cindy Philipps have years of International experience, from providing to the needs of sports fishing anglers at their lodge in Guatemala to other global sportfishing destinations. Nobody on the planet has released more sailfish and marlin. They continue their participation in the release ethos of bill-fishing, and, true to their nature, also the protection of the species.
There is a significant sense of accomplishment in a profession when the purpose of potency in it, the point of productivity, the point at which skills begin to show and generate profit, has been reached. Due to this success, the Philipps family bring valuable safari adventures to South Africa. Over the decades, a vast reservoir of knowledge of the details have been accumulated, laying the foundation, forming friendships, earning a reputation for truthfulness, reliability and integrity, through fame and prestige earned in the world of service and establishing our credit as one of the best safari experiences.
And, whilst not fishing, they spend their time guiding clients on a safari across the African continent every year back in Africa with , hosting personally their friends and friends of friends.

• Toro River Lodges guests pay an entrance fee of R350.00 per person, which is payable at the ‘Makalali’ Private Game Reserve Gate direct. When ground transfers are handled by us, this rate is included in the total drive fee per transfer

Important information
• In the event of premature departure, guests will be liable for the full extent of the pre-booked stay.
• Spa treatments are available at Toro River Lodges – previous arrangement.
• Children 2-5 years of age are not permitted on a game drive.
TRAVEL CANCELLATION INSURANCE
The Guest is obliged to ensure that they have taken out (or the traveling guest has taken out) adequate travel insurance to cover the financial implications of The Toro River Lodges Cancellation Terms and Conditions.
The Guest will bear the sole and absolute responsibility, therefore.
HEALTH MATTERS
As the group’s lodges border endemic Malaria areas we recommend that guests take necessary precautions by consulting with their Doctor or Pharmacy prior to visiting any of our Lodges, particularly in the Summer periods. Whilst Malaria cases in guests at our lodges are rare, it is the absolute responsibility of all who visit Malaria endemic regions to take recognized precautions. Guests are to be reminded that most of these precautions require the ingestion of medication sometime prior to arrival in the endemic area.
