Tijara offers four luxury cottages which are spread a good distance apart to ensure your privacy. Each cottage has a large room with a private deck that is furnished with a sunbed, a daybed and comfortable plantation chairs to enjoy the beautiful views of the garden, pool and the ocean. The room is decorated in Swahili style with handcrafted and carved furniture and furnished with king-size beds, as well as a sofa and a large coffee table. The bathroom has a double shower.
The swimming pool offers a great way to refresh or guests can simply laze on the sunbed listening to the roar of the ocean. Guests can take a leisurely stroll in the gardens and along the oceanfront and the views of the Indian Ocean and the fresh clean air is sure to revitalize your spirit.
At Tijara you will only hear the roaring of the ocean as the breakers roll on to the reef, and the ever present birdsong from the species that frequent the grounds. Tijara also has its own wildlife which includes dikdik, bush buck, wild pigs, genet cats, bush babies and an abundance of exotic species of butterflies. The beach is very secluded and is shared only with the fishermen delivering their daily fresh catch. Whilst snorkelling at Tijara, guests will enjoy the refreshing waters of the Indian Ocean and find beautiful reef with a great variety of live shells, starfish, corals and tropical fish, making you feel like you are swimming in an aquarium.
For the more energetic, a short walk to a historic cave is recommended. The legend says that it is the famous Black Jack's Cave which was used during the time of slave trading and the cave has many chambers with shafts of light illuminating it within while the high tide creates intricate patterns on the floor when it comes in twice a day.
When staying at Tijara, all meals, accommodation, selected alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and activities are included. Guests staying three nights or more will have transfers to and from Moi International Airport, Mombasa and Ukundi Airstrip included in the price. Every morning at breakfast, your host will discuss your meal options and each meal is made to the guests’ specifications.
Ian and Larissa welcome you to Tijara Beach and invite you to enjoy their secluded and tranquil paradise.
