Against the magnificent backdrop of the Drakensberg Mountains and its secluded valleys, in the lee of the famous hill, Spioenkop, and snugly secluded on 1000 ha of private farm land, lies Three Tree Hill Lodge. Spectacular scenery, locally grown food, exquisite linen and superb hosts make Three Trees Lodge the ideal environment in which to escape and unwind.
Passionate owners and managers, Simon and Cheryl Blackburn continue the work of visionaries and founders of Three Trees, Andrew Ardington and the late David Rattray, which is bringing to vivid life the bloody battles and ongoing struggles between the British and the Boers which dominated the landscape and area at the turn of the 18th century. Both Simon and Cheryl are qualified mountain and safari guides, and have brought many additional facets and dimensions to Three Tree Hill lodge from its early days under Andrew and David.
Their philosophy for Three Trees is to involve the local community with sustainable employment, goods & services procurement, recycling projects, health education & school support. Community Development & Environmental Ecology is the primary focus whilst the long term vision is to develop the area into a sustainable wildlife destination.
