About The River Lodge at Thornybush

The River Lodge at Thornybush is situated in the Thornybush Private Game Reserve, one of the country's premier wildlife destinations with the Big 5 roaming around. Beautifully situated in the heart of the Timbavati Bushveld, it overlooks the northern part of the Drakensburg mountain range.

We offer four free-standing thatched suites that are designed with comfortable luxury in mind. Added features include air-conditioning, outside showers, wireless Internet connectivity and splash pools on the private deck areas.

This lodge exemplifies elegant Colonial living with high ceilings, thatched roofs and large living areas leading onto lovely decks. Relax around the salt-water swimming pool on the many loungers provided, overlooking the watering hole. Enjoy candle-lit dinners while watching the beautiful African sunset unfold.
