Guests have a choice of grassed camping sites on or near the water's edge with and without electricity, a Pod and clean ablution facilities. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy kite surfing, power boating, sailing, canoeing, freshwater angling and swimming.
Caravan and tent sites in grassed areas are situated very close to the water's edge, with numerous campsites under the trees. Some of the sites are fitted with electrical points while non-electrical sites are also available, all close to a well-maintained ablution. Each site has access to a tap and is protected from the prevailing southeaster.
Braai facilities are provided on the public side. When camping at the water's edge you may anchor your boat at or near your camp site.
The unique Pod is close to all amenities and the water's edge, offering a comfortable stay for two adults and two children. The open-plan unit contains a double bed as well as a bunk bed and a kitchen that is equipped with a fridge, stove, kettle, toaster, pots and pans, plates and cutlery. The Pod is closely situated to the public ablution block.
The spotless ablutions offer gas geysers ensuring hot showers and flush toilets and are shared between the campsites and the Pod.
The clubhouse is situated next to the water and offers a panoramic view of the dam. This area is the heartbeat of the Club where members meet, and socialize and all organised regattas take place from here. The clubhouse, open on weekends, public and school holidays, also serves as a venue for various functions including parties, meetings and training seminars and the well-stocked bar will satisfy all thirsts. The bar and lounge are situated in the clubhouse, and both have DSTV facilities for all sports enthusiasts.
The restaurant, located at the clubhouse serves snacks, fast foods and delicious home-made meals. The shop is also well-stocked for campers offering most of your basic camping necessities, including firelighters and firewood. For the youngsters, there is an assortment of ice creams, lollipops, cold drinks, chips and sweets and kids corner with Cartoon Network or similar on the big screen.
Theewaterskloof Dam is the 7th largest dam in South Africa and covers an area of 5 100ha with a capacity of 483 million cubic metres, when full. The unique location of Theewater Sports Club, excellent sailing conditions, good infrastructure and picturesque setting have made Theewater Sports Club one of the most popular water sports venues in South Africa.
