The Wild Farm Backpackers rests between the beautiful Outeniqua Mountains in the north and the warm Indian Ocean in the south, in the quaint village of Wilderness.

There is a variety of accommodation options available, depending on your desires and requirements, from log cabins to dorms and campsites. The property offers guests clean bathrooms, a large communal self-catering kitchen, a lounge with television, two braai areas, and Wi-Fi Internet access.

Wilderness is an ideal base from which to explore the Garden Route, Oudsthoorn, Knysna and the Cango Caves, which are an easy day trip away. We were here for only two days instead of four. Left earlier because we didn't like the place and the people. Breakfast was not much more than bread. Not a nice warm place like the Beach Backpackers were we went to after two days. That was heaven!

I booked a family log cabin for my family of 4 for one night, more than a month prior to our visit. Upon arrival, it took the disinterested reception staff half an hour to find our booking - even though there are only two family log cabins. This set the tone for our entire visit. Once shown to our room, it took the receptionist a further 5 minutes to confirm that the key worked and was indeed the correct one for our room.
