The lodge features two adjacent chalets, each with two en-suite bedrooms and a connected patio, perfect for families. Additionally, the main bedroom is accessible from the main lodge. All bedrooms can be configured as twin or king-size beds, offering flexible sleeping arrangements. Amenities include coffee and tea stations, satellite Wi-Fi in the main lodge, and all linen provided for guest comfort. Bath towels, swimming towels, hand soaps, and creams are also available.
Inside the main lodge, you'll find an open-plan lounge with a large fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, and a dining room that opens to a closed entertainment area with a large table and loungers, all overlooking the waterhole. Shawu's Hide offers a self-catering experience, or guests can bring their food and have our resident chef handle all the preparation and cooking. Before arrival, we will discuss and plan suggested meal options, ensuring they are tailored to your preferences.
The lodge features a covered patio with views of the private waterhole, a separate outdoor patio with loungers, and an elevated swimming pool. For dining and relaxation, there are both indoor and outdoor dining areas, as well as an open boma with a braai area. Firewood is provided for a cosy and authentic bush experience.
In addition to the stunning scenery, Shawu's Hide offers a range of amenities to enhance your stay. Take a dip in the swimming pool or enjoy a traditional braai in the boma area, all while soaking in the breathtaking view of the waterhole. From the lodge's deck, guests can marvel at lions, elephants, and other wildlife as they frequent the private waterhole just below. With the property being unfenced, visitors can fully connect with the untouched beauty and raw wilderness of the reserve.
During the day, guests may walk unaccompanied between their chalet and the main lodge. However, after sunset, we recommend requesting a staff member for escort to and from the chalets. Families are advised to remain vigilant at all times.
Included in your stay at the lodge are morning and evening safari game drives, accompanied by your personal accredited and experienced game ranger. Afternoon game drives include sundowners in the bush, allowing you to enjoy your favourite drink and snacks while watching the African sunset in all its glory. Private walks in the reserve and access to the Bushpig Lapa can be arranged upon prior request and are subject to availability.
