We stayed over at Shafton Grange for one night. The guest house is a gorgeous old building and the grounds of the guest house were very well kept. The view out onto the greenery of the midlands from the patio is incredible, made even more special when the mists of the KZN Midlands rolled in. Our room was very comfortable. Our stay was good for what we needed. We needed a place to stay before we swam the Midmar. However the Shafton Grange needs a lot maintenance. The house is also not very clean. We had no water in the bathrooms even when there was no loadshedding. The cold water was not very clean either. The host was very friendly and helpful.

I think it may have once been a beautiful old home/guest house but not any more. Craig was friendly, but the house reeked of dog. I checked out after 1 of my 3 night booking.
