Huis Harpuis and Spekbossie Annex can accommodate up to 10 people and comprises the 8-sleeper beautiful old stone homestead and the 2-sleeper adjacent cottage. The homestead features 2 rooms with double beds and 2 rooms with single beds, 1 bathroom with a bath and overhead shower, a separate toilet and a second bathroom with a shower.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a large gas stove with an electric oven, microwave, a large fridge with a freezer, coffee-making facilities and a scullery. The open-plan living area has a 10-seater dining table and lounge area with a cosy fireplace. The garage doubles as a games room with a table-tennis table, dartboard, foosball table and a pool table.
A mobile braai facility is available on the outdoor patio overlooking the large lawn and links the homestead with the cottage, Spekbossie Annex.
Spekbossie Annex’ consists of an open-plan cottage with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The kitchenette doubles as a dining or study and has a fridge-freezer, microwave and tea and coffee facilities. The unit can only be booked with Huis Harpuis.
The 8-sleeper Renosterbos Cottage and Mossienes Annex comprises the 6-sleeper Renosterbos Cottage and the 2-sleeper Mossienes Annex. Renosterbos offers 2 bedrooms with double beds and 1 room with 2 single beds and the rooms share a bathroom with a bath overhead shower and a separate toilet.
The fully equipped kitchen has a separate pantry and scullery and is equipped with a gas stove with an electric oven, a Dover coal stove, microwave and 2 fridge-freezers. The living room offers comfortable seating, a cosy fireplace and a 4-seater dining table.
The outdoor patio features a mobile outdoor braai and the patio links Renosterbos Cottage with the outbuilding next door, Mossienes Annex. The open-plan Mossienes is furnished with 2 single beds, a desk, and a cupboard, and has an en-suite shower-only bathroom. The unit can only be booked with Renosterbos Cottage.
Bedding, towels, electric blankets and wall-mounted heaters in each bedroom are provided in Huis Harpuis and Spekbossie Annex and Renosterbos Cottage and Mossienes Annex.
Perfect for 2 adults and 2 children, the boutique Koesnaatjie Cottages are off the grid with no Eskom but are fully operational on gas, oil lamps and candlelight. Each cottage has 1 bedroom with a double bed, gas heater, warm bedding, towels and down duvet inner for snowy nights. A double pull-out sleeper sofa is available in the sitting room. Guests should bring their warm bedding, warm water bottle and pillow with pillow case, as only a flat sheet, 1 blanket and 1 towel are provided for the sofa. The private bathroom is fitted with a shower and a gas heater provides hot water.
The open-plan living room has a comfortable lounge area and a kitchen with an indoor braai, a 2-plate gas stove, a bar fridge with a freezer compartment, tea and coffee facilities and a dining area. Koesnaaitjie Cottage 1 also has a working Dover coal stove for bread baking and Koesnaaitjie Cottage 2 has a second traditional Karoo workers’ house fireplace in the sitting room.
Mobile outdoor braai facilities are available on the stoep for each of the cottages. Firewood is available for sale on the farm.
Guests can explore the farm hiking at their leisure or enjoy a scenic picnic in the shade of a rare tree near one of the freshwater springs. Come home each night to a log fire and watch in amazement as a galaxy of stars unfolds right before you.
