The mountains are rich in bird life and if you are lucky you may get to spot a Verreaux's Eagle or Black Harrier or more commonly the Jackal Buzzards...Cape Eagle-Owls are often heard at night. The rich protea fynbos attracts a large amount of sugar birds, malachite sun birds and many other beautiful species can be found, like ground woodpeckers, rock jumpers and more. We have a resident birding expert and experienced bird guide who can take you on sighting tours in the area and excursions to the Baviaanskloof. Simply enquire with us and we can make all the necessary arrangements to suit your needs.
Also, being in a leopard friendly area means there is a lot of wildlife roaming freely without fences. Families of Klipspringer are often around and there are also Grey Rhebok to be seen. The presence of Honey Badger and Aardvark attest to the unspoiled nature on the farm.
We offer fully self-catering, off-grid accommodation at the Blue Agama Cottage. A cosy, neat 1 bedroom cottage that sleeps up to 4. Outside there is a large deck boasting breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and a grassed area to enjoy a braai under the Milky Way.
We have beehives on site which produce some of the purest raw organic honey from the mountains that you will probably ever taste.
We also offer Shiatsu massage with a therapist who has 20 years experience, so if you require a relaxing treatment or even a healing massage retreat, it can easily be arranged. Some basic to intermediate yoga classes are also offered on request.
As we are so remote you will need a 4x4 (preferably with low range) to access our location, but if you are arriving in a 2x4 we will gladly collect you at the neighboring farm 6km (15mins) away, where you can safely park your car until we return you at the end of your stay. If you have a 4x4 you will get a chance to use it.
