Pelican Point Lodge

Important Information

Reservations: All reservations must be confirmed in writing, with a 100% prepayment.

Pelican Point Lodge is situated on the eco-fragile Pelican Point peninsula and is only accessible via a 4x4 vehicle as part of an escorted self-drive or by a 4x4 transfer operated by Pelican Point Lodge. Un-escorted self-driving is not allowed. Self-driving guests will be met at a designated meeting point at 3pm on the day of arrival, details will be communicated upon booking. Fly-in guests will be picked up complimentary at the airport of Walvis Bay, at additional charge pick ups and drop offs at the airports of Swakopmund and Arandis.
On the departure day, the complimentary escorted self-drive experience departs from the lodge at 10h30 to arrive by the meeting point by 11h15. Escorted self-drive at other times is subject to availability of our drivers, pre-booking is required at least 1 day prior to arrival at an extra charge of N$2500 per vehicle each way.
Fly-in guests are dropped off at the airport of Walvis Bay on ETD of the flight, subject to pre-booking. Supplements for drop-off at the airports of Swakopmund and Arandis apply.

Self-drive guests:

Escorted self-drives with a 4x4 are a complimentary service adding to the guests’ experience of “Destination Pelican Point Lodge - a truly experiential adventure” and to allow an unforgettable self-drive experience through the saltpans and on the unique Pelican Point Peninsula.

· A 4x4 vehicle for escorted self-driving is essential. For self-driving guests with a 4x2, pre-arrangements for a pick up have to be pre-booked upon booking and their vehicle will need to be parked at their own risk.
· Un-escorted self-driving to the lodge is not allowed for the conservation of the eco-fragile environment and may jeopardize the safety of the travellers and their vehicles.
· Guests must wait at the meeting point for the Lodge appointed driver to escort them and who will assist in deflating their tyres.
· Escorted self-drive is at the driver’s own risk; the drive is through thick sand, assisted by the Lodge’s driver with specific instructions.
· Escorted self-drive vehicles must follow the Lodge vehicle in its exact tracks to the lodge.
· Guests’ vehicles remain parked at owner’s risk at the designated parking area at the Lodge for the duration of the guests' stay.
· To preserve the eco-fragile environment guests are not allowed to drive their vehicle on the Peninsula for the duration of their stay.

Arrival day:
Pick-up time: The complimentary, escorted self-drive experience on arrival day departs from the meeting point to the lodge at 15h00 and is automatically confirmed upon booking.

Escorted self-drive at other times is subject to availability of our drivers, pre-booking is required at least 1 day prior to arrival at an extra charge of N$2500 per vehicle each way.

Departure day:
The complimentary escorted self-drive experience on departure day departs from the lodge at 10h30 to arrive by the meeting point by 11h15.
Escorted self-drive at other times is subject to availability of our drivers, pre-booking is required at least 1 day prior to arrival at an extra charge of N$2500 per vehicle each way.
8h00: checkout formalities
8h30: Complimentary boat cruise (round trip). In the event of bad weather, force majeure or any operational circumstances beyond our control prohibiting the boat cruise, guests will be offered the escorted service leaving at 10h30 from the lodge back to the meeting point.
10h30: Escorted departure from the Lodge to meeting point to arrive at 11h15 where the Lodge appointed driver will inflate the tyres.

Fly-in guests:
Arrival day:
Complimentary pick-up at the airport of Walvis Bay on ETA of the flight, subject to pre-booking. Supplements for pick-up at the airports of Swakopmund and Arandis apply as per the rate sheets under ‘other extras’.

Departure day:
Complimentary drop-off at the airport of Walvis Bay on ETD of the flight, subject to pre-booking. Supplements for drop-off at the airports of Swakopmund and Arandis apply as per the rate sheets under ‘other extras’.
8h00: Checkout formalities
8h30: Complimentary boat cruise (round trip). In the event of bad weather, force majeure or any operational circumstances beyond our control prohibiting the boat cruise, guests will be offered a transfer by 4x4 leaving at 10h30 from the lodge back to the airport. If the ETD of the departure flight is not compatible with the time of arrival of our boat after the round trip, then guests will be taken by 4x4 to the Airport.

10h30: Departure transfer by 4x4 from the Lodge to the airport to arrive in time for the ETD of the flight


Children’s policy:
Much of the charm of Pelican Point Lodge lies in its tranquil wilderness setting and may therefore not always be appreciated by all children. It is a condition therefore that adults accompanying children take full responsibility for the conduct and safety of their children.
- Children 12 years and under, sharing the family suite with 2 full paying adults, pay 50% of the quoted adult tariff.
- Children 6 years and under, sharing the family suite with 2 full paying adults, stay free.

Electricity:
With our unique location in the Dorob national park, we are very much aware of the surrounding eco-system and hence do our best to minimize our carbon footprint by running the generator only at certain times, i.e. for a few hours in the morning and for a few hours in the evening; our team does switch the generator on, over and above those times if required and upon guest request and at additional charge. During the times that the generator is off, we run water on gravitational feed.
