Paddahoek Cottage

Paddahoek Cottage is an off-grid, authentic, comfortable stone cottage located on a quiet country lane in Vermaaklikheid. Thick stone walls, a high ceiling, and a thatch roof keep the building cool in summer. There is a closed door fireplace in the living room for cold winter days. Guests have two options with sleeping arrangements. 1. Utilise the queen-sized bed on the mezzanine level (must be able to climb stairs) and two single beds on the ground floor. 2. Joining the two single beds and adding a king-size Duve on the ground level; with the loft bedroom functioning with a queen

Paddahoek Cottage is an off-grid, authentic, comfortable stone cottage located on a quiet country lane in Vermaaklikheid. Thick stone walls, a high ceiling, and a thatch roof keep the building cool in summer. There is a closed door fireplace in the living room for cold winter days.

Guests have two options with sleeping arrangements. 1. Utilise the queen-sized bed on the mezzanine level (must be able to climb stairs) and two single beds on the ground floor. 2. Joining the two single beds and adding a king-size Duve on the ground level; with the loft bedroom functioning with a queen-sized bed and two single duvets. In addition to the bathroom there is an outside shower with a hotwater connection.
The kitchen is fully equipped; and includes a two plate gas hob. The putside braai area also contains a traditional cast iron stove with excellent baking capacity.

The lawn area has been fenced, so dogs are allowed, provided they are well behaved and friendly and do not chase or harass wild or domestic animals. Bath and two plate cooking hob are driven by gas. LED Lights and 300L fridge, freezer powered by the sun (no Eskom power cuts here).

For Internet and telecoms access, we provide a cell phone signal booster (up to 3G). Guests will need to use your own cell phone and data.

The cottage is situated 700m from the public slipway of the Duiwenhoks river. Guests may use this accesss point to swim and launch watercraft. Unfortunately cars may not be parked here and boats or smaller watercraft may not be moored at this location.
