Due to the accident on the N3 between Montrose and Van Reenen’s Pass I got to Midlands Saddle and Trout at 5;10am in the morning instead of 5:15pm the previous day. A trip that would normally take 3 hrs from Jhb took 15 hrs. It had been a traumatic drive. I then asked the hotel for an hour’s extension to the check out time and they refused. This was extremely disappointing to me and showed me that you had little or no flexibility in your operations and left a bitter taste in my mouth. Your reception is not the friendliest either.

My family and I stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage at Midlands Saddle and Trout and were very happy with the accommodation as well as the resort's recreational facilities. The staff were helpful and cheerful and we had no problems at all with our booking or stay. Considering how reasonable the rates are, I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the cottage is and the extra effort the staff go to, such as presenting our towels in the shape of swans and elephants. My only criticism would be that the cottage lacks character (it would benefit from a horse or fishing theme), the garden around our...
