About Metsi Matso Lodge

Nestled in the foot of the Drakensberg Mountain Range, in the picture square of Sentinel Peak, this jewel is the heart and soul of the tranquility you find in the Eastern Free State.

Established on the banks of Metsi-Matsho Dam [Popularly known as Swartwater Dam], this is a paradise for fly fishermen (and women of course). In his book, African Fly-Fishing Hand Book – Bill Hansford-Steele (2004 publication foreword by current Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa ) tells a story that this dam holds the All-African Rainbow Trout Record as at 2003. For this reason, our fish hatchery and breeding ponds are here to serve your needs for a long time.

Not happy at all there was clothes and croceries inside the cupboard, inner sheets and pillows cases was dirty not happy at all and won't reffer anyone there never, sheets was suppose to be washed before.

We had a good stay, but there are some small details that can be corrected there are no bedside tables, we did not have enough towels. However the staff was very Friendly and they did go out of their way to assist. - that made up for the shortcomings. I would suggest if they have a function they let the rest of the guest know.

From the nicely furnished rooms to the gorgeous view, this was everything I wanted after a long day's hiking. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was nice and filling.
