About Long Street Backpackers
Long Street Backpackers is at the centre of all backpacking activity. Situated in the city centre and therefore within walking distance of everything that you would need. Long Street is to Cape Town what King's Cross is to Sydney or Khoasan Road is to Bangkok. We are the only hostel in Cape Town that has a police camera right on our doorstep!
The building consists of sixteen small apartments, ten of which are used as sleeping rooms. Each apartment has a bathroom and each apartment has up to five beds, some only have two. Twin, double or single rooms are available. The double or twin rooms do not have private bathrooms, but it is shared with a few others. Double rooms come with duvets (or doonas) and also have a desk, chair and other furniture to make it a little more homely. Towels can be provided, but it is better to bring your own when staying at a backpacker hostel. Linen is included and storage is available.
The backpackers has a travellers bar, TV room with DVD and satellite TV, poolroom, big barbecue area as well as four balconies to watch the watch the colour of Cape Towns’ busiest street go by. A 5% discount is available for VIP Members. The lounge or dining rooms is adjoining to the large communal state-of-the-art kitchen that is equipped with eight stove tops, oven, three big fridges, pots, pans and plates to cook for everyone at once. Internet and e-mail facilities, as well as laundry are available.
We also book tours, safari's, overland trips and vehicles. The day tours of the Winelands and the Cape Peninsula are very popular with our guests. If you provide your flight details we will do a free pickup from the airport. This only applies to two or more people.
