Set in the heart of a majestic natural setting, the attractive town of Omaruru is surrounded by mountains, notably the Oruwe to the southeast and the Erongo Mountains to the southwest. Flanked by the Namib Desert to the west and the savannah to the east, this combination of mountains and woodlands has given rise to a great diversity of animals and plant life, many of which are endemic to Namibia.Of particular interest is the fact that Omaruru is home to only one of the four wineries in Namibia, the Kristall Kellerie Boutique Winery, and travellers are welcome to visit and enjoy a glass of wine. The town also offers a number of small coffee shops and cafes.
