King's Grant Country Retreat

Nestled in a valley near Ixopo in KwaZulu-Natal, King’s Grant was established in 1891 as a supply farm for the nearby seminary by German Trappist Monks. In 1996 it was sold to the Biggs Family who have tastefully converted it into a 3 Star guest lodge whilst retaining its original charm and atmosphere of peace and tranquility. It now offers warm country hospitality and allows one to take a step back into the past and enjoy a slower pace of life.The original living quarters of the German and Dutch brothers and sisters have been stylishly restored and converted into comfortable B&B

King’s Grant facilities include the St. Isidor Conference Centre and Lounge, the St. Isidor Mill Museum, a spacious Tuscan-style banqueting hall and the quaint St. Isidor Chapel which is perfect for intimate weddings or the renewal of wedding vows. King’s Grant also houses a cosy, country-style restaurant where one can enjoy fine wine and dining either indoors or in the flower-filled courtyard gardens surrounding the central fountain.

Activities to be enjoyed are walking, birding, fishing and canoeing. A mountain bike trail of approximately 15 km winds through the valleys and thornveld and offers one the opportunity to enjoy the full beauty of the farm - preferably in groups only. Guests can also order a picnic basket and relax in the gardens.
