About King's Grant Country Retreat

Nestled in a valley near Ixopo in KwaZulu-Natal, King’s Grant was established in 1891 as a supply farm for the nearby seminary by German Trappist Monks. In 1996 it was sold to the Biggs Family who have tastefully converted it into a 3 Star guest lodge whilst retaining its original charm and atmosphere of peace and tranquility. It now offers warm country hospitality and allows one to take a step back into the past and enjoy a slower pace of life. The original living quarters of the German and Dutch brothers and sisters have been stylishly restored and converted into comfortable B&B

Wedding Venues: The quaint St. Isidor Chapel is perfect for intimate weddings or the renewal of wedding vows.

Covid Safety Approved: We pledge to implement a high standard of hygiene and cleaning protocols to ensure the safest environment possible for our guests. We adhere to the industry safety protocols set out by the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA).

Beautiful scenery, garden, welcoming staff. Beautiful place...just don't forget anything when you checkout, it might not be "found".

My husband and I had an amazing stay in the Lavender room. Beautiful surroundings, excellent service and amazing food. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we wanted for nothing and no request was too much trouble. We will definitely be visiting again and soon. Thank you.

King's Grant Country Retreat. Beautiful experience. Three story'd 1890's maize grinding mill, secret cobble stone fountained courtyards, old red brick buildings, take you back in time.Well presented, appropriately furnished thatched chalets, warm to the heaters in the fresh country air, excellent cuisine, made for a delightful stay.
