The Khama Rhino Sanctuary offers prime habitat for white and black rhino as well as over 30 diverse animal species and more than 230 species of birds.

We offer a variety of accommodation types from Chalets to Camping ground and dormitories for groups, students, family getaways as well as friends just looking to getaway. The campsites are ideal for those who are wanting to experience the wild.

Important Information

Khama Rhino Sanctuary opens every day at 7:00am and closes at 7:00pm . Special arrangements for arrival outside these hours can be made in advance.

On arrival at the Sanctuary you will find the Reception where all fees are paid and you can book camping, chalets and activities. Information packs are on sale with many details about the Sanctuary, wildlife and with activities for children. Basic binoculars are available to hire and the friendly staff can help answer your questions about the Sanctuary. Wood for fires and braais can be bought here, as well as ice, cold drinks and basic provisions. There is also a craft shop selling various local crafts, books, maps, souvenirs and postcards.

Interesting and rewarding game drive roads, splendid water hole for game and bird viewing and the lovely Manketti trees.Signage on the roads in poor condition - we got lost on occasion.Outside braai is far from chalet and requires some lighting at night.Though it is self catering, some basic cutlery and crockery is required. Self catering chalets are terrible. Very dirty, drafty, and no cutlery or towels. Linen is provided, but due to the cold we slept in our own sleeping bags. In addition, for the 3 of us, we had to pay Pula400 as a conservation fee when entering the rhino sanctuary. In my view, it’s not worth it.

We really loved the sheer variety and numbers of game on view. What a fantastic experience.Two things that could be improved - the road signage in the park, as many of the signs are not legible or have fallen over - and ensuring that the chalets have basic crockery and cutlery available (they are advertised as self- catering and one would expect them to have plates, knives and forks).

Firstly what we booked , we did not get as the booking was made through Safari and another establishment, so on arrival we were told no payment was made, we got given smaller accommodations and was given an invoice that stated to pay and the amount due was significantly less than what we paid originally. Everything was good the chalets were good the beds were comfortable and clean and the staff were very helpful and polite
