About Karoo Art Hotel

The Karoo Art hotel goes beyond playing the role of a gallery for an eclectic stable of local and regional artists. It is also a celebration of all the many other arts associated with a classic country hotel, the art of the bakery, the art of the kitchen, the art of the bar, the art of coffee, the art of elegant simplicity, the art of the long stay. All 15 rooms are individual in character and are a great reflection of the owner and decorator Sue Melvill’s vision for what a classic Karoo bedroom should be; “to me, the karoo is all about stillness, honesty, and serenity. And that’s what I want

Spa: We have a small massage room at the hotel. We are happy to book one of the private masseurs in town to render massage services for our guests at the hotel.

Golf: Swellendam's par 72 golf course is nestled at the foot of the magnificent Langeberg mountains, with views overlooking the town, surrounding farms and the Hermitage Valley. Only a 47km drive from Barrydale.

Wedding Venues: Say “I do” in the Klein Karoo! Leave the stressful wedding planning and event preparations to us. The impressive mountain range and diverse landscape, will make your wedding photos breathtakingly beautiful.

Family friendly: Klein Karoo Entertainment for Junior Guests There are a host of activities available for our Junior guests such as table tennis, trampoline, board games, colouring in, movies are available daily.

Romantic: Fireplaces, electric blankets and best port wines in winter!

Wayne, Mou and all the female staff made this stylish venue so pleasurable. Tasty food true to South-African cuisine, well priced. Crisp white linen, wake-up coffee brought to room before breakfast. Will Definitely be back staying more than 1 day! You wont make a mistake to choose this gem!

Loved the rooms and the dining room. I thought the bar was rather too brightly lit.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Karoo Art Hotel. We met some amazing people and felt very welcome. The food was excellent and Derek made sure that all our dietary needs were met. The room was quaint and very tastefully decorated. We will definitely be back to stay.
