Although the Inn was built in 1930s, it did not accept its first paying customer until 1924. The Inn was named after Izaak Walton, born in 1853 in England. He wrote the complete ‘Angler’, which is one of the most reprinted books to date. When Kenya gained independence, the Britons sold the establishment to the Mugo Family, who still own the hotel. The family has invested and developed the hotel to make it what it is today; a world class conference destination.
