Situated some 500 km north of Maputo at Jangamo Beach, just south of Inhambane, Island Rock Resort is aptly named after the huge rock at the end of a massive reef system which extends from the shore. Island Rock Resort offers three main types of accommodation available - Casitas, Lapas, and camping sites.
The Casita's are comfortable reed and grass rooms that line the beachfront or are nestled in between the beach dunes, and there are a number of different configurations of Casitas available. All the Casitas have their own kitchen from which to prepare your local seafood dishes, and have a definitive marooned island feel, yet they are very comfortable with the added benefit of being relatively cool in the summer.
The Lapas are constructed of brick and mortar and refers to more than one structure that is based in a loose circle. At Island Rock Resort the Lapas have been built with groups and families in mind. Each Lapa is set apart from the camp and nestled between the beach dune and indigenous bush.
The Island Rock Resort campsite is well laid out and nestled in the beach dunes along the Inhambane Coast. Each campsite is bordered by the wild indigenous bush with private, semi-private, and communal sites available.
