The name Gîte (French) means a specific type of holiday accommodation. Gîtes are generally old farmworkers' cottages or converted outbuildings and barns within proximity of the owner's principal residence.

Interestingly, we actually referred to a converted barn on our farm as ‘The Gîte’ for years and then when we started thinking of a name for our newly built barn-style suites a family member proposed that Gîte is the perfect name.

Nestled between soaring mountains in the gorgeous Cape winelands, lays the magnificent Franschhoek Valley. As the food and wine hub of the country, where fine wines are grown and our top chefs create international cuisine, Franschhoek is always buzzing with locals and tourists.

There are also plenty of coffee shops and restaurants to choose from. Only 45 minutes from Cape Town, Franschhoek is the perfect base while you discover the entire Cape winelands.
