About Gentle Presence Cottage

Dating back to the 1900's Gentle Presence is one of the oldest sandstone buildings in Clarens and was thought to have been a stable. Farmers gathered here staying in ox wagons and sharing in Holy Communion (Nagmal). Due to the exceptional mountain views, the property was originally named Kyk Die Berge (Look at the Mountains) and was the only multi-level structure in Clarens, with locals nicknaming it “Die Flets” (the Flats). It has a charming history which we would love to share with you. There are 2 Self-Catering Cottages, both with own entrances, parking and enterta

Golf: Clarens Golf Estate is a mere 2km's from the property.

Family friendly: The patio offers guests perfect views while watching children play in the large garden or having a braai. The outdoor fire pit is very popular for roasting marshmallows. Families and close friends love the privacy of the Cottage.

Romantic: Both Cottages are private with lovely views of the mountains and garden which you can enjoy from your bed. The garden is very popular with guests and each has own patio, braai and firepit.

Covid Safety Approved: All rooms are sprayed and ventilated before your arrival. Professional cleaning company employed to service the unit and do linen

Self-drive Safari Package: Ideal location from which to visit Golden Gate National Park, Fourisburg, Ficksburg and Lesotho.

Pat and Colin are most welcoming hosts, supplying wonderful titbits of information before our arrival and during our arrival. The house had everything we needed. Little touches that are not usually found at other similar accommodation were an abolute delight.

We had such a wonderful stay at Gentle Presence. Our hosts, Pat and Colin, were so welcoming and helpful, we wanted for nothing. The house has such character and is so comfortable, it really feels like home away from home. The kids also had such a good time in the spacious garden! We will absolutely be back!
