Flatdogs Camp is an excellent, affordable, owner-managed safari camp overlooking the Luangwa River in the South Luangwa National Park. With a choice between chalets, authentic African safari tents and the exclusive Jackal-berry Tree house, Flatdogs is ideal for families, couples, honeymooners, friends travelling together, first time explorers and safari addicts. Flatdogs guests can drive themselves to the camp, or else fly into Mfuwe Airport and start their safari from there.

The a la carte restaurant is unique in the safari world, allowing guests to choose their meals each day instead of being served a set menu sitting with all the other guests. Flatdogs is one of the few family- friendly camps in the Luangwa and children are welcome year round. There are comfortable family chalets, a great pool and children’s menu in the restaurant with flexible serving times and a babysitting and listening service.

The South Luangwa offers a safari experience unmatched by any other destination, allowing year-round access, open game viewing vehicles, walking safaris, and night drives. The quality of our safari-guiding is second to none, with all our professional guides passing the challenging guiding exam here to prove that they have excellent knowledge of the mammals, birds and flora found in this area.

Covid Safety Approved: All staff wear masks at all times. All vehicles are disinfected including transfer vehicles and safari vehicles. Socially distanced tables spread out in restaurant and bar area. No buffet meals are served.
