About Fernhill Guest Farm

Life slows down as you turn onto Highway West - a beautiful country road, leading you to Fernhill Guest Farm, which is situated just outside Knysna in the beautiful area of Rheenendal. This area is known for its magical ancient forests, cycling and hiking trails. We are a mere 15-minute drive to Knysna and the beautiful beach at Buffels Bay, whilst only being 20 minutes away from Sedgefield, with it's ever-popular Saturday Wild Oats Market, so you will be spoiled for choice when looking for places to visit.

Our fully self-catering cottages have a beautiful stoep, overlooking the farm camps where cows peacefully graze, creating the perfect setting to slow down, smell the fresh, clean farm air and enjoy a lingering braai with friends and family. The cottage has a kitchen, main bedroom with a double bed and two single beds in the second room, so it is an ideal family destination. There is also a wood fireplace inside the lounge, to keep you warm on the colder winter nights.

For those who enjoy walks, there are many beautiful trails on the 56ha farm and you are welcome to bring your dogs, at a nominal fee, as our fully fenced cottages are pet-friendly. This area is also very popular with mountain bikers, so bring your bicycle and explore this region that forms part of the Seven Passes Route between Knysna and George. We are situated in a conservancy, so in addition to the farm animals, there is a lot of free-roaming wildlife including bushbuck, bush pigs, leopard, monkeys, baboons, porcupines and a large variety of birds, so don't forget the binoculars. Escape to the country and enjoy this piece of paradise with us.

Family friendly: The cottages are ideal for families. Each has a fenced garden with separate entrance. We can accommodate up to 5 persons per Two Bedroom cottage and are on one level with no stairs. Kids can interact with some of the farm animals during their stay.

Covid Safety Approved: We pledge to implement a high standard of hygiene and cleaning protocols to ensure the safest environment possible for our guests. We adhere to the industry safety protocols set out by the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA).

★★★★★ We loved the peaceful and friendly farm atmosphere, the location close to hikes, Kysna and Sedgefield and the amazing farm milk which Emma hand-milks. It was nice to interact with the farm animals and we enjoyed the 3km farm hike past grazing fields, through a little forest and past the amazing green lake.
