About Essenwood House

Located in the suburb of Berea in Durban, Essenwood House features city and distance views of the Indian Ocean. It includes an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by a lush garden and terrace.

                      I could not wait for day break so that I could escape the hell that I experienced at this place.1. I tried in vain to contact the establishment all day when I was due to arrive.2. I was greeted by a very bubbly person in her pajamas, no gown or modesty. I wasn’t sure who she was but she showed me to my room and gave me a key.3. The room I was allocated had a pungent odour due to mould, the fresh coat of paint led me to believe that the mould was painted over instead of treated.4.                       Location and premises: The location could be great but going up and down a very steep yard is not fun. Construction in the premises makes everything worse. And the fact that it’s been going on since last year makes me wonder if the owner care at all for their guests. The dogs are such a turn off.- Cleanliness: Our room looked clean but had ants showing up every now and then. Towels looked old and looked dirty. We stayed for 2 nights and our towels were not refreshed when they came to ‘clean’ the room. Ventilation is poor in the shower and toilet.Comfort: beds were okay. Curtains were great....
