Eldoret in 1912 was a real pioneer town in which the first bank was built around the safe because once it dropped off the wagon, ferrying to the site, it proved too heavy to move again. Most descendants of the original settler families left in the sixties, but Eldoret still displays the hard working settler ethic on which it was founded and combined with the modern African entrepreneurial spirit, gives impetus to its fast paced development.
Eldoret Wagon Hotel, which was previously Wagon Wheel Hotel, is the first hotel in the region which began as a private member club for senior railways staff. Its dining room takes an image of an elongated railway wagon with a looped roof and is still charmingly rustic. The new wings offer modern facilities associated with modern hotels.
Eldoret Wagon hotel is the social hub of the town, with a total of 102 rooms and offers a choice of deluxe, standard, and executive rooms for those who value a little extra comfort.
Keen golfers will be delighted by the 9-hole golf course at The Eldoret Club with its brilliant fairways and lush greens. Membership can be arranged. Guests interested in athletics may wish to visit the town of Iten which is 35 km away known for its variety of high altitude training camps established by some of Kenya’s leading athletes.
A visit to the nearby historical Railway Station, built in 1925, would be of interest. Day trip excursions can be arranged between Eldoret Wagon Hotel for guests who would wish to experience the magical view of the Rift Valley Escarpment and the tranquillity of the Kerio Valley.
Your stay at our hotel is not complete without the visit to our vibrant and lively Sesia club, accompanied with charcoal grilled delicacy of goat meat done by our experienced chefs as you watch while dancing to the soothing tunes. Not forgetting indoor pool table while watching the flat-screen TV with DStv channels.
