Luxury meets Karoo hospitality at the quaint and secluded KERNEELIA KOTHUIS with wonderful mountain and farm views. The one bedroomed cottage contains a king-size bed that can convert to two single beds and has a bathroom with a shower and a toilet. Hot water is provided by a wood-fired hot water donkey. An extra toilet is available outside the cottage. A three-quarter sleeper couch is available in the living area for a third guest.
The cottage is completely off the grid, utilizing, solar, gas and wood for energy. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove and oven, fridge-freezer, tea and coffee facilities, and cutlery and crockery are provided. Fresh milk and farm butter are provided in the fridge and rusks are available in the pantry. The kitchen opens onto an undercover back patio with a built-in braai area and dining area.
Instead of a swimming pool, guests can take a dip in the large wine barrel on the front patio. It has a fire pit a short distance from the house. This is a perfect spot on windless evenings and an excellent vantage point for stargazing. Guests are welcome to make use of the swimming pool at the main farmhouse and TUINHUIS which is a short five minute walk away.
The charming Edwardian-style TUINHUIS is set in the gardens of the 1914 farmhouse and overlooks the farm and has views of the Swartberg- and Kammanassie Mountains. The cottage offers a main bedroom furnished with a 4-poster queen-size bed and a second bedroom with two single beds, and has en-suite bathrooms with showers. A small study is also available next to the main bedroom.
A small, separate kitchen, accessible from the second bedroom, is fully equipped with an electric oven, gas stove, bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities and cutlery and crockery. The kitchen opens to one of the braai areas and at the front of the cottage, next to the swimming pool, guests will find the second braai area.
Doornkraal is also home to Klein Karoo Horse Adventures who offers beautiful horse trails on the farm for riders of all levels of experience, also total beginners. It is one of the best ways to see the pristine veld and is one of most highly recommended activities in the area.
