Dar Mida overlooks the serene and peaceful Mida Creek as it flows into the Indian Ocean. The bird life is abundant and there are lots of activities to enjoy and experience in Watamu.
Dar Mida is a three-story house with a rooftop bar and dining area designed in a Swahili-Morrocan style. The two downstairs bedrooms are en-suite with showers only, while the first-floor bedroom shares a bathroom. The rooms are furnished with ceiling or standing fans and mattresses with mosquito nets can be provided with families with small children. No TV facilities are available and in case of a black out, a generator is provided. Dar Mida is looked after by wonderful, friendly staff including an excellent cook.
There are four sunbeds around the pool area and guests can enjoy their meals at the umbrella table. Guests can indulge in rooftop candlelit dinners under the African stars and late-night drinks around the bar, with wonderful ambiance and no artificial lights to compete with the brightness of the stars.
Various water sports like creek and deep sea fishing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, dolphin watching and scuba diving can be enjoyed in the area. Guests can also visit the Gede Ruins that are situated on the edge of the Arabuko Sokoke Forest. This lost Islamic port city has many well-preserved relics of mosques and traditional Swahili houses and can be explored with guides. At Mida Creek guests can go for boat and dhow trips, birdwatching and explore the Mangrove Forest. A guided tour of a local Giriama village can be arranged.
