Asante Animal Farm Getaway is also known as Mshayamoya. It is a new establishment with development in progress. Situated only 15 km from the city centre, it is located in a serene indigenous bush setting. This is an ideal farm location for those wanting to connect with nature.
The semi-circular backpackers area consists of four cosy, self-catering stone cottages, two being family units and dormitory-style units. The cottages are in close proximity to our friendly farm animal housing. Feeding of the animals takes place twice a day and guests are welcome to participate.
All the units are equipped with beverage-making equipment, cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. The outdoor kitchen forms part of the semi-circle and it has a unique eye-catching coal stove, a sink and cupboards. The male and female ablution blocks are safely hidden behind the kitchen and each is fitted with a shower. We use the old-fashioned donkey system to heat water, which doubles up as the braai area. There is a firepit in the centre of the circle, where guests can enjoy sundowners and share stories under the stars.
We offer guided bush walks and cycling along our trail which runs in and around the farm. Guests can enjoy walkabouts between the roaming goats, sheep, geese, turkeys, peacocks and chickens. The pigs are also a sight on their own. Because of the peaceful surrounds, we are blessed with the sights and sounds of wild birds, monkeys, bullfrogs and insects.
The farm can only be reached by 4x4 vehicles. The units have electricity and the water is safe to drink and comes from our own borehole.
