About Windsor Castle

Dating back to the 11th century, Windsor Castle was built to defend Norman governance around London and the River Thames. Henry III went on to construct a lavish palace within the castle during the mid-13th century. Edward III added more buildings later, contributing to Windsor Castle becoming the most ambitious and costly secular buildings in England during the Middle Ages.
