South Male Atoll

South Male Atoll is very different from its bustling neighbour, North Male Atoll. There are only three populated islands, of which Maafushi is the largest with 1200 inhabitants, and the uninhabited islands feel rather remote. Not far is Guraidhoo Island with the atoll’s biggest town and port, offering safe anchorage for fishing dhonis and tour boats.
