Saldanha is a mainly industrial town to the north of Saldanha Bay, and is one of the largest export ports in Africa, mainly exporting iron ore mined in Sishen in the Northern Cape. Don't let this fool you though, Saldanha has some excellent tourist attractions including a multitude of seafood restaurants, amazing scenery and a nearby nature reserve.
The nearby Tietiesbaai boasts a beautiful unspoiled beach and the last manually controlled lighthouse in South Africa. Situated inside the Cape Columbine Nature Reserve, the area offers camping facilities, hiking trails and wonderful scenery. On the other side of Saldanha Bay is the town of Langebaan, which has much less industry and is a great place to relax and enjoy the sun.
