About Baviaanskrans Route

The Baviaanskrans Route is a 19 km hiking trail which starts off at the southern section of the Kgaswane Mountain Reserve.

Hikers begin the route at Avon More camp, starting an uphill climb to the garden of remembrance. The route then follows a stream to the tierkloof waterfall. The trail continues to rock pools; a perfect spot to rest and cool off. The trail joins the Summit Route for a steep climb to the beacon at bakenkop. The path then follows a steep descent down the eastern side of the mountain to Explorers camp.

The following morning, hikers will start with a short climb and then an easy walk across the entrance road and then down the mountain side to a small stream. From there the trail climbs again to the mountain summit. The trail continues on the summit with spectacular views, until a very steep descent to the bottom of the mountain, bending back to Avon More camp.
