Riebeek Kasteel lies in the heart of the Riebeek Valley on the slopes of the Kasteelberg Mountains, an easy 75 kilometre drive along the N7 from Cape Town into the heart of the Swartland.
It is a stunningly romantic old village with miles of olive and vine valleys bathed in sunshine, making one feel like you're in the Tuscan hills of Italy. The town's name stems from combining Jan van Riebeeck and Kasteelberg, which is a nearby mountain and popular attraction.
Riebeek West lies a few minutes drive from Riebeek Kasteel. The two towns make an excellent base to explore the countryside from, including the nearby towns of Tulbagh, Stellenbosch and even Langebaan. There are many wine estates and even West Coast Nature Park that are all within reach of Riebeek Kasteel.
