About Aga Khan Palace
Set in a woodland on the Mula River is Pune’s leading attraction, the striking Aga Khan Palace that houses the Gandhi National Memorial. Built in 1892 by Sultan Aga Khan III, it was the place where Gandhi, his wife Kasturba and other nationalist leaders were interned by the British. Both Kasturba and his secretary Mahadeobhai Desai died here during their detention and their shrines are in the grounds. Visitors can see the room where Gandhi used to stay, paintings and a photographic exhibition.
