With the North-West University, a few other tertiary education institutions, and numerous schools, Potchefstroom is a vibrant city buzzing with youthful energy. Fondly called “Potch” by locals, it is home to Aardklop, the annual Afrikaans arts and culture festival, enticing thousands of visitors from all over the country.
Situated on the banks of the Mooi River, “mooi” meaning pretty, the attractive city boasts tree-lined avenues and numerous beautiful historic buildings. The Bult is a very popular student hangout offering a good selection of restaurants and pubs. But Potch is not all about academia, old buildings and urban living; there are fabulous attractions to please adrenaline junkies and nature lovers alike.
