About Paarl Taal Monument
The Afrikaanse Taalmuseum and Taalmonument in Paarl celebrate the birth and continuing existence of Afrikaans. Everyone who can or wants to speak Afrikaans, or who is interested in the language, should visit this unique museum and monument to learn more about Afrikaans, the third most spoken language in South Africa. The architecture of Jan van Wijk draws on European, African and Asian influence and stands tall and imposing, as a fitting monument to the Afrikaans language.
The monument has great picnic spots and an on-site coffee shop. This is an informative and fun day for the whole family. There are entrance fees.
Open Monday to Sunday:
08:00 to 17:00 (April to September)
08:00 to 20:00 (October to March).
