Makuya Nature Reserve shares a fenceless border with the Kruger National Park near the Pafuri Gate on the north side. The Luvhuvhu River forms a natural divide between Makuya and Kruger, which is easily formidable by wildlife, so you can expect to see the Big 5 as well as any other mammal that you would see in the Kruger.
Makuya is only accessible with a 4x4 vehicle, making it a rather secluded and private place for game viewing. It is also a spectacular location for birdwatching and the landscape is adorned with baobab trees.
A variety of accommodation is available for those who would like to stay overnight but the reserve is also open to day visitors. Make sure you bring lots of water and sunscreen as the region is extremely hot.
