Bordering Timbavati Game Reserve and the Kruger National Park is Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, one of the largest privately owned reserves in South Africa.
Along with Timbavati, Umbabat and Balule Nature Reserve, Klaserie is a member of the Association of Private Nature Reserves. This non-government operation hosts and is radically committed to The Children's Enviromental Training Program, achieving amazing interaction while educating children from the local community. The program focuses on the significance and importance of the environment to our lives and the future of our country.
Other projects include the Ground Hornbill Project, an elephant research project operating under Save the Elephants founded by Dr Ian Douglas Hamilton and the "Tembo" Buffalo Project. Commercial operations within Klaserie vary from simple bush camps and walking trails to luxury game lodges. Human impact is kept to a minimum to ensure that wildlife are not disturbed and to keep the wilderness pristine.
