About Umaid Bhawan Palace
The massive 347-roomed Umaid Bhawan Palace is situated on the highest point in the city and stands as one of the world’s largest private residences. Constructed between 1929 and 1943 as a tribute to the new Jodhpur, the magnificent golden sandstone palace combines Indian and Art Deco design elements. Today a section of the palace is the residence of the former royal family, while the other subdivisions are a museum and the Taj Palace Hotel.
