About Luthuli Museum
Take a trip out to Groutville and discover one of South Africa’s national treasures. The Luthuli Museum comprises the former home of Nobel Peace Prize awardee, Chief Albert Lithulu.
The Museum is dedicated to the legacy of Chief Albert Luthuli, President-General of the African National Congress (ANC) from December 1952 until his death in 1967.
The house was a regular meeting place for people linked to South Africa's freedom struggle during the years of Luthuli's banishment. He lived all his life there with his wife and family.
