About Crystal Springs Hike

This easy hike is a delightful adventure in a beautiful nature reserve. Follow the stream in the kloof (gully) between the mountians, past many crystal clear pools. Stop along the way to enjoy indiginous fynbos, to swim or bathe the sunshine on the rocks. Stop and turn back when you feel you have gone far enough - each spot along the way is beautiful enough to be the destination. You will feel spiritually refreshed.

Directions to Crystal Springs Hike

Take the N2 from Cape Town. Pass the industrial area of Somerset West. Just before Sir Lowry's Pass turn right onto Sir Lowry's Road towards Gordon's Bay and Hermanus (R44). At T junction, thurn left onto Faure Marine Dr following hte R44. After about 10km there is a wooden guest house (Bird Lodge?)on the right, pay a small fee each R10 when I was last there. Drive over the bridge and park. Enter the nature reserve at a gate house on the left. NB It is advisable not to walk in remote areas alone. Weekends are probably best when there are a few people about.
