If you wanted to learn to surf back in the day, you’d have to find a board and figure it out for yourself. If you were very lucky, a buddy or a longsuffering boyfriend would give you a few tips before disappearing quickly behind the backline. Then you’d be all alone, battling with the surf break and swallowing lots of seawater. Now there are awesome surf schools all along our coast, and anyone can learn while having fun at the same time. All equipment is usually included in the lesson fees. Learn 2 Surf have schools in Cape Town, Mossel Bay, Plettenberg Bay, Jeffreys Bay, Port Elizabeth, East London, Margate, Durban. So there really are no more excuses to be had!

Learn 2 Surf offers private coaching or small group beginner lessons daily at Diaz Beach, otherwise those who'd like to improve their surfing on more advanced waves can arrange private coaching elsewhere.

The head coach/instructor of the Mossel Bay Surf School has achieved international success as a surfer and a coach. He says: “It is a school of learning, motivation and encouragement, a place where young and old can build their self esteem and find their strengths in a secure and controlled environment.”
