About River Cafe
Well known for its sumptuous breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas, this popular social haunt in the Constantia Valley has undergone a re-awakening by none other than Luke Dale-Roberts, Executive Chef of the recently crowned 2009 Eat Out Restaurant of the Year, La Colombe. Luke has appointed his protégé, Scot Kirton, as the Head Chef of the new River Café.
Situated at the entrance of Constantia Uitsig Wine Estate, the River Café is the place to be in summer whether it's for breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks or dinner - with its casual ambience, pristine location and friendly service.
As befits its laidback persona, the revitalised River Café offers an authentic and affordable bistro-style dining experience, using only the freshest local ingredients, wines from the Constantia Valley, plates of wholesome, satisfying fare with a sophisticated country feel.
The menu changes daily, giving diners can experience a wide variety of dishes that reflect the best seasonal offerings.
Scot and Luke work closely with Horticulturalist, Boyd Hutchings, and together they have developed an organic garden allowing them to grow their own fresh herbs and vegetables for their ever-changing culinary creations. They will also be embarking on an exciting project to smoke their own produce, from salmon to meats and cheeses and have sourced artisan baked breads and top quality coffee.
