About Chelsea Conservancy
The Chelsea Conservancy is situated just 8 kilometres from Port Elizabeth on the world famous Garden Route. Almost completely surrounded by nature reserves, including the Sardinia Bay and Sylvic Nature Reserves, the area is made up mostly of thick indigenous bush, with sand dunes populating the slopes closer to the sea shore. Aside from the fynbos and dune scrub, wild flowers can be seen during certain times of year.
The beach at Sardinia Bay is well known as an excellent swimming spot, and used to be the source of 7,000 hectares worth of sand dunes that stretched as far from the beach as Humewood, about 20km away.
