Bhopal

Divided by two lakes, Bhopal is a city of stark contrasts with the atmospheric Islamic old city with its bazaars and mosques to the north and the modern hotels, restaurants and shopping malls to the south of the lakes. Situated 40km from the city are the Bhimbetka rock shelters, a World Heritage Site protecting some of the world’s oldest cave paintings.
