We had a lovely time in De Zyfer cottage. Thank you.

Early the first evening there was a cloudburst in the park. Our cottage was flooded due to inadequate drainage. We stayed only the one night as the place was not habitable.

This is my fist stay in Tankwa so I cannot compare it to other facilities but we enjoyed our stay tremendously. Plain and simple - and that is what you need. The clear sky and the quietness is what makes this place so special. Die fasiliteite is basies maar daar is alles wat mens nodig het. Dit was 'n ondervinding om weer vir 'n slag 'n donkie aan te steek vir warm water. Mens vergeet hoe die vroere mense geleef het. Die plek sien my weer.

Be aware that it is a 6 hour drive from Cape Town and not a 4,5hour drive as the Sanparks website suggests: the last 2 hours are all along dirt roads. A vehicle with high clearance is advisable, and be sure that your spare tyre is at the ready. De Zyfer cottage is an old farm cottage - no electricity or cell reception, so everything is candle lit. If you want a hot shower you'll have to get the donkey boiler going. The cottage is nicely appointed, comfortable beds and warm throws. The kitchen has a 2 plate stove top...
